Sara Valentine

Sara Valentine is performing arts curator, event producer and performer based in New York City. She’s danced and played her way into audiences’ hearts across the United States, Europe, Brazil, and most recently Australia, twirling her baton high, keeping her feet agile and her beats on point with ensembles such as Hungry March Band and Batala.

Active since 1993 as an independent event producer and promoter, she currently is the lead steward for HONK NYC!, an annual street band festival. She most recently served on the production team for the inaugural Union Station Busker Fest, in Denver, and is part of the team bringing the first-ever buskerfest to Coney Island in Summer 2016.

What I've done...

HONK NYC!

Sara Valentine has produced HONK NYC! since 2008. She was in the right place at the right time when Hungry March Band formed in her living room in 1997 and has been dancing and clowning with the band ever since. She also played percussion with Batala NYC, and tours with a clandestine Denver-based performance ensemble. She is a guest curator for Make Music New York, and makes a living as a bookkeeper and tax preparer for independent artists and arts organizations.
